Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals have a complicated roster and allocation set up. We have 3 operating suites to roster with 16 operating rooms. We also have two on call rosters. We have around 60 consultant anaesthetists as well as 18 junior anaesthetists to allocate. We have started using Hosportal last year and it has considerably improved the accuracy as well as the effort involved in managing all these rosters. We only have one clerical staff member and trying to work off excel rosters was a nightmare. There is a steep learning curve for all involved but the support from Hosportal was excellent and now we have mastered most of the functionality it has made our rostering and allocations much easier. We are also finding it more accurate with less errors and it is very convenient to update the live document via a mobile phone in the OT or clinic or on the golf course so that the allocations can be immediately updated and kept accurate. assistance. We would certainly recommend this product as it is able to manage complex interrelated rostering with a great deal of finesse. The advanced functionality such as self-rostering and using rewards to fill on call rosters is remarkable.
